JUST IN!! US. Government Shutsdown at Midnight, as Lawmakers leave Capitol without Agreement

A partial shutdown of the government is expected as lawmakers left the Capitol without a deal to fund the government by a midnight deadline, as reported by FOX NEWS.

The Senate adjourned and was scheduled to reconvene by noon on Saturday, after the House adjourned on Friday without a deal on spending.

According to the reports, the vote was kept open for five hours to get enough support, ad finally the Senate advanced a House-approved spending bill with $5.7 billion for a border wall, after Vice President Mike Pence reportedly went to the Capitol to break a tie.

Mike Pence went into meeting with Democratic Senate Leader Chuck Schumer on Capitol Hill with White House aides, the meeting is said to be negotiations on how to secure some new money for border wall security.

As part of a measure to fund the government through early February the House approved $5.7 billion for the border wall.

“President Trump: you will not get your wall,” adding that . You’re not getting the wall today, next week or on Jan. 3, when Democrats take control of the House.”

In Rep. Debbie Dingell’s reaction, she said ahead of the midnight deadline : “A government shutdown is unacceptable. It’s a lack of leadership from President Trump and Republican Congressional Leaders. The American people expect their government to work for them and listen. It’s the holiday season, we should be showing America our better selves not driving the nation into a pointless shutdown.”

President Trump in a statement has said that “Now it’s up to the Democrats as to whether or not we have a shutdown tonight,”.
